How do I eat right to gain Muscle?

So, my gymnastics coach wants us to eat right, so we gain the maximum amount of muscle we can. This is ok, but I’m rather confused. I have a fast metabolism and will need to eat a lot more than I am. This means that I need a lot of calories, but I also need to make sure I don’t eat a lot of fat. Lifting weights helps me lose fat right? Aren’t calories fat? Are there certain foods that have a lot of calories but little fat? I’m so confused!
i’m also a vegetarian.

For mei eat alot then the next day before eat alot then the next day before eat as it has been paying off and it was.
eat more proteins
Calories = energy = power to do exercise/daily activities
Calories consumed but not used = turns into fat = gain weight but no muscle
Bottom line, if you consume 200 calories, you consume energy, but if you dont exercise and burn that energy off, you gain it to your weight
